Changing header.php in child theme

I am using a child theme based on the Responsive theme. I want the header to look like the Spasalon theme. I have just started learning php so I get easily stumped. I already tried adding the header.php from Spasalon to my child theme directory and changed all references to spasalon with my child theme’s name. However, this didn’t work.

Can anyone explain how I can go about using one theme’s header.php in a different theme?
