I enter my mailchimp api key, and hit sabe changes, and it does not connect me. It takes me to my blog home page, and so i cannot connect the plugin to my mailchimp account, making it useless.

I had originally used it and it worked fine, but i am redoing my site, and when i newly install the plugin the api key doesn’t connect me and there is no other way to connect.

    Hi Steve,

Are you sure you’re talking about this plugin, MailChimp for WP? If so, are you 100% sure you’re using the correct API key? I’ve had no other reports of this happening..

Do you get an error message or anything that would be helpful in debugging the issue?

Adding sign-up methods for your MailChimp lists to your WordPress site should be easy. With this plugin, it is.
MailChimp for WordPress lets you create a highly customizable sign-up form which you can display wherever you want it to display using a simple shortcode, widget or template function. You can also add sign-up checkboxes to various forms on your site, like your … By Danny van Kooten.

It shows up in my plugins list as MailChimp for WordPress Lite.

I don’t get an error message, i only get directed to my home page when i click Save Chnages. Here is an api key I just created in my Mailchimp account today:
    [API Key removed].

I can’t figure it out. Thanks for your help.

    Hi Steve,

Thanks, you’re definitely using this plugin. I just tested your API key and it works fine for me, which suggests this is a server issue. I strongly suggest to remove your API key (mods?) and keep it secret, any person with bad intentions can basically do anything with your MailChimp account using your API key.

As this is a server issue, are you using any other plugins that use a remote service? Did you recently switch hosts, anything like that? It could be that one of the following things is happening..

    • All remote requests are failing, including WP updates etc. Not that likely..
    • Remote requests to secure (https) URLs are blocked. Please ask your webhost about this.
    • Remote requests to MailChimps server are blocked by a firewall rule on your server.

In any case, if you have access to your error logs, please check those. Or simply ask your webhost if “cURL requests to secure servers over https are allowed”. If not, they should allow it.

    Hope that helps!

I figured it out. There is a conflict with WordPress Firewall 2. To connect to Mailchimp I deactivated it, then connected to Mailchimp, and then afterward reactivated it.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Steve,

Ok, glad you got it to work. Please double-check to see if sign-ups are working correctly, as the plugin needs to connect to MailChimp for that as well. ??

Also, if you have a free minute: a review on the plugin would make me really happy.

    Thanks!

    Danny
