Fresh install (You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.)

  • I have just installed this blog software for the first time. Installation went nice and smooth no problems at all.

    I got an e-mail with the password and username admin.

    I go to the login page and I login and then I get…

    You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.

    Its a fresh install no other wordpress on the domain never has been. I have never been into the admin section and I have not changed anything in the db directly.

    I tryed deleting and installing again but same problem.

    Any have any idea why this happens or should I just start looking for a blogsoftware that works ?? ??

    Hehe not much of a help on the problem but this aint easy.

    I looked alot on the support forum and this seems to be a big problem. And it seems like the team behind wp is kinda ignoring it ??

    I also share the same feelings of _WHAT_. I started with high expectations today morning and the ‘Famous 5 minute install’ and go live is not over even after 7 hours !!!

    May anybody tell me the exact PHP version in which the current stable version (2.1) of wordpress is developed ? Sometimes, that may be the problem. I can install that version of PHP in a separate server and try.

    And, is there any special settings needed in php.ini ? In our server, they have turned on register_globals in order to support some old version sites. Is it the reason ?
