Restore prompt problem?

  • I upgraded to 3.8 and I am having some compatibility issues. No problem I will just use my WP backup file and restore my files and database right.

    I FTP my old files back to the server so were good there.

    Then I successfully import my SQL file into the proper database via phpMyAdim. Once this is done and I try to access the Admin area. I am prompted to update my database and I am back to the 3.8 version again with the same issues.

    How do I bypass what seems to be a force upgrade?

    The back-up files and sql are from 3.7.1 a week prior before upgrading to 3.8

    Any help appreciated.
