Dashboard looks vertically stretched

  • After updating, my dashboard looks vertically stretched. I checked screen shots from other users and mine is indeed stretched. I’m working on a Mac running OS 10.9 (Mavericks). I checked this in Chrome, Safari, and Firefox and it appears stretched in all the browsers. I reinstalled WP 3.8 to no avail. Any ideas how to remedy this? It’s very uncomfortable to use. Thanks in advance.

  • Do you have any caching on your site/server? Have you tried deactivating your plugins and switching to a default theme to see it that changes it? If so, reverse your steps one by one to see what’s causing that problem.

    I just created a new user account on my Mac and logged into my site and everything looks like it should (not stretched). odd….

    New user as in your Mac user (not WP)?

    Yes, new user as in my Mac, not WP.

    Weird, sounds like a caching or user setting issue.

    Update: Along with the dashboard being stretch, I was having other issues with my computer (Mac) so I decided to do a clean install of the Mavericks and doing so remedied the problem. Everything was fine up until today when I noticed the stretched dashboard. Thinking back about what I’ve done recently on my Mac, I remembered that I had installed some new fonts over the weekend. I went to Font Book and disabled all the user fonts (R-click on User Fonts > Disable) and boom the dashboard looks normal again. Now I just have to figure out what specific font I added that’s the culprit.

    Okay just isolated the font causing issues – Open Sans. Case is closed. Whew!

    I was suffering the same problem and disabling Open Sans was the fix. Thanks, jonnwight!
