  • Hi sepehrco,

    Thanks so much! ??

At the moment we don’t have a Facebook like counter, but you can install the official like button by copying and pasting the code here into your template:

    https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/like-button/

Also, Google+ doesn’t offer a public API to query share counts, when they do add in the feature, we’ll definitely be one of the first to support it.

Actually after speaking with one of our developers, turns out our Facebook share counter also counts likes ^^

    Thanks Andy for your reply!

As far as I know, there is a difference between ‘sharing a URL’ in Facebook and ‘Like’. If you ‘share’ a URL, the counter adds 1 to the previous ‘likes’ however, as the link you mentioned said, one can ‘like’ a URL without ‘sharing’ it as well.

Shareaholic does have a ‘sharing’ button but it seems that it does not contain a ‘Like’ button; so a reader cannot simply ‘Like’ a URL without ‘sharing’ it.

That was the case I am talking about.

I thank you again for the support!

You’re welcome! The Shareaholic Facebook share counter, is reporting the ‘total count’ of likes + shares that are taken directly from Facebook’s official counts. Please let us know if there’s anything else we can help you with.

To add to Andy, when you “like” a post, the counter will add 1 to both the share and like button counts as Facebook uses the total count for both “likes” and “shares” for both types of buttons.

Hi Shareaholic! And thank you both for the quick answer.

I looked over some websites, some of them have ‘Like’ button, some have ‘Share/Recommend’.

Since ‘Like’ a URL is a bit faster than ‘Share’, I recommend you add a ‘Like’ button along with the existing ‘Share’ button in ‘Shareaholic’.

This is a great simple plugin. I enjoyed using it!

    Thank you guys!
