• I have a really weird glitch. Every time I try to log into my WP site the first try always fails. Then I try again and it works. Anyone know why this would happen? So weird. Thanks

  • Odd and could be difficult to diagnose. Are you using a password manager to keep track of passwords?

When the login fails does it produce the standard WP error or something different? Do you have any plugins that might be interfering with the login process?

I get the following message in a pinkish box after first login:

ERROR: Cookies are blocked or not supported by your browser. You must enable cookies to use WordPress.

I use a plugin called Aspexi Easy Login URL but I have several sites that also have the same plugin without any issues.

I’ll have to try signing in using a different browser.. I always use Iron so maybe that is the problem?

At least I can sign in on the second try.

Yes, try without that plugin and try with a different browser.

I have the same issue. second login attempt works fine, here might be The solution

I have the same problem. Not sure of a solution yet here either, though I will note that for me the problem seems to happen in Chrome and not in other browsers (also tried it in Firefox and Safari), for what that’s worth.

    I have the similar issue…
I am using a plugin iThemes Security (Earlier – Bulletproof security) and i have changed my wp-admin login url to something else….from then i am not able to login in 1st attempt….always i have to go for 2nd…and its authenticated ?

Why is this happening…is there any threat of plugin tracking my psss or something?? Please help…

I can not even get to my log in page. Site/wp-login.php does not work nor does /wp-admin.php or their variations has the page changed?

Sorry to revive a slightly dated post, but there is a fix that might help some of you. I had the same problem, and it ended up being a conflict with a caching plugin (W3 Total Cache). To fix it, go into W3TC’s Page Cache settings. In the Advanced section, go to the ‘Never cache the following pages’ option and type in something like this (where ‘myloginpage’ is the page you set in iThemes):

    /myloginpage

This will keep W3TC from caching your login page. The login was probably failing because you hit a cached PHP page the first time you try to log in.

    HTH,
    Matt
