Add Media Not Working

  • I am trying to create a new post, and the “Add Media” button is not doing anything when clicked. The “Add Media” drop down allows me to upload images, but I cannot then add them into a post.

    I’ve tried using Chrome and Firefox, and messing with the pop up settings as well.

    I tried searching the forums. One solution I found here did not work.

    The other solutions revolved around deleting plug-ins or themes, but I just downloaded and installed 3.7.1 yesterday, and am working with the 2013 theme.

    It seems this was a known problem in the past, but I couldn’t find any recent posts. Is there a simple fix I am missing?

  • what browser are you using? Have you tried clearing your cache and exiting the browser? Have you tried shutting off all plugins and then trying to add the media?

    I’m using Chrome. But I also tried it in Firefox, and got the same result.

    Per your advice, I tried clearing my browsers cache, restarting it, and deleting the two default plug-ins (neither we active, but just to be sure), and still, nothing happens when I click “Add Media.”

    The only thing I did notice is that, when I click “Add Media.” my URL changes from

    Is that pound sign/hashtag trying to tell me something?

    After getting anxious, and not finding any other helpful information on the forums or web, I decided to just bite the bullet and do a complete reinstall after downloading WordPress again (after all, there was really no content on my page yet).

    For whatever reason, it worked. And I now have the “Add Media” box when I click the button.

    Not sure what caused this. Both times all the files were uploaded successfully to my FTP.

    Oh well… it’s working now.
