I was working on my blog and after opening the page again, the Save Draft, Preview, and Trash buttons are missing. I deactivate plugins and cleared the browser cash. My server host did a debugging and got these errors:
Notice: add_option was called with an argument that is deprecated since version 2.3 with no alternative available. in /home1/ellifolk/public_html/blog/wp-includes/functions.php on line 3019

Notice: wp_register_script was called incorrectly. Scripts and styles should not be registered or enqueued until the wp_enqueue_scripts, admin_enqueue_scripts, or login_enqueue_scripts hooks. Please see Debugging in WordPress for more information. (This message was added in version 3.3.) in /home1/ellifolk/public_html/blog/wp-includes/functions.php on line 3060

Notice: get_settings is deprecated since version 2.1! Use get_option() instead. in /home1/ellifolk/public_html/blog/wp-includes/functions.php on line 2919

Notice: get_settings is deprecated since version 2.1! Use get_option() instead. in /home1/ellifolk/public_html/blog/wp-includes/functions.php on line 2919
The tech person at the server host said to contact WordPress for help.
    Thank you.

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

I deactivated all plugins and it didn’t make a difference. Bluehost said switching themes could make me lose stuff, so I haven’t done that yet. I can’t find the PhpMyAdmin, but will maybe the server host can help with that.

The backup I have was done when I had the same problem, so won’t I just be uploading the problem again?

The server host said they did reset the plugins.

Changing theme did not fix the issue.

Try resetting the plugins folder using Phpmyadmin. It definitely looks like a bad plugin to me.

We have done that, we have reinstalled wp-admin and wp-include folders and buttons are still missing.

Can we see the site using the default Twenty Thirteen theme with all plugins deactivated?

    Yes.

I just changed the theme to Twenty Thirteen and deactivated all plugins. The buttons are still missing on my post drafts and published post edit pages.

I just changed my theme back to Atahualpa. I can change it back to Twenty Thirteen and deactivate all plugins again if it will help again.

Yes, please do switch back and deactivate ALL plugins – are you using the most current versions of NGG and JetPack?

    (@elli4563)

    Hi WPyogi,

I have just deactivated all plugins and switched back to the default theme. All plugins are up-to-date.

Yes, I recently updated NGG and JetPack.

I just noticed that Pages have the Save Draft and Trash buttons. Just the posts don’t have the Save Draft, Preview, and Trash buttons. Published posts don’t have the Update button.

    Thank you for your help.

What browser are you using? Have you cleared your browser cache and cookies?

Is the plugins folder reset – i.e. renamed to plugins.HOLD

    Have you manually done this?

re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

Thank you for your help. Somehow I changed the publish settings so the buttons didn’t show. I have them fixed now. Thanks so much for your help.
