• Hi. I have two blogs that are hosted on my web space. One of the blogs is directly on the url of the site. The other blog was contained within a subfolder of the site and it had its own unique url with a domain forwarder.

That url has now however expired and I am having great difficulty in logging back into the blog to update it as it keeps wanting to go to the expired url instead of where it was located on the parent one.

I can’t update it from the inside, but is there any way I can update the site from the outside or modifying any of the files?

My blog details are as follows:

thefutureisbright-thefutureiswhite.com This is the main blog.

The blog that was also hosted within this was contained within the following folder:

thefutureisbright-thefutureiswhite.com/blogsforhoward/ or it may have been this folder:

    thefutureisbright-thefutureiswhite.com/blogsforhoward/wordpress/

    I’m not too sure which.

The problem was that I had a domain forwarder for blogsforhoward.com that linked directly to this folder however the blogsforhoward.com domain expired quite a while ago, and when I try to log in to the blog it is taking me to that domain which somebody else now owns.

Can you offer any advice on how I can get into the site again without it wanting to take me to the expired domain? Or is there a way I can update the references to where the login takes me to without logging in? I.E. modifying one of the wordpress files and then uploading it to my site?

I am quite confused on this one and how if it’s even possible to solve it, so I’d be very thankfully of any help.

    Cheers

    John

  • Do you have database access using phpmyadmin?

SOrry to post this through your thread,I’m try and find out if someone can help me register to someones website who is with wordpress… every attempt I make it follows with a page stating a password will be sent to my email but when I open the email it just says my user name and a link to follow without ever supplying me with a password.

Hi. Yes I believe that if I go into the control panel area of the website for the hosting company I am with I can then go into the mysql databases in there and there is a phpmyadmin link I can click on.

john10001, that’s really good, because there is a priceless tutorial about doing what you need to do here: https://tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/, right column, under Moving – look at both “to a new host” and “to another domain”.

smatron, please start your own thread. And when you do, you’re going to need to provide a great deal more info than that.
