pluggin causing delay of seconds when clicking any links on a page

    I’ve been trying to pinpoint the root cause of a delay on my site. my site is fast, I’ve eliminated a bunch of things on there and it’s on a hosting solution with cdn.

    Despite my homepage loading up real fast ( using a couple of different sites to benchmark) one thing it didn’t measure, but that i could experience was when i click on any link on the page. it would delay about 6 seconds ( my mouse cursor would turn form an arrow to a spinning circle while it waited) and then load the page( and load it fast). I’ve used a bunch of plugins to make the site faster and i couldn’t figure out what was causing it and i check out another site that used the same theme and it didn’t have this problem. A systematic shutdown of all my plugins and reactivation and testing leads me to conclude that this plugin is causing the delay.

    A pity. it was quite handy!

    Hey consultant,

    Sorry for the late response, I think the notification mail got lost in the ether. Is disqus loading up all right or is it slow too? This plugin makes similar requests to the core commenting system, it shouldn’t be slow unless they are too.

    no significant speed issues with disqus core.

    Andrew, has the update you provided now been incorporated into the core plugin?

    I’d like to put it on my “live” site, but i’d also * as i’ve upgraded) like to know if it’s compatible with 3.8. Do you have an eta for releasing an update?

    I’m having the same problem on WP 3.8 running on localhost.

    There’s about 3 seconds with nothing happening, and the comments aren’t retrieved lazy. The page shows up till the widget, waits for ~3 secs before displaying the rest of the page. Unbearable.

    Hi guys,

    Sorry for the delay, will push live this weekend latest, I should finally get some free time. The delay issue was caused by the way the original connection to the disqus api was written (it asked for fresh results on every page load).
