    Hi there

I was able to follow the instructions to create a child theme of 2013 and I was able to make some useful modifications.

One thing I have not been able to fix is having the child theme of TwentyThirteen use its own header images.

I created the same image subfolders and I am even using the same names as the images in the original 2013 theme. But my child theme keeps using the 2013 parent header images.

I have the /inc/custom-header.php file in my child theme, but I am unsure how to modify it to have the theme use the images located inside the child theme folder.

    Any help greatly appreciated!

    Edited to add:

If I drop the new images into the main 2013 images/headers folder, they work perfectly, but I know that’s not what I’m supposed to do for a child theme.

    Also edited to add:

I even went into the child theme /inc/custom-header.php and hardcoded the full URL to my custom images and it still didn’t work. (replaced the %s with the full url to the child theme images.)

I am trying to make one twenty thirteen site be sort of like two sites, half portfolio, and half blog. I plan to make a custom page for the blog and use the default page for the rest of the site and set that “blog” to show the posts, etc. However I want the header of the blog page/posts to be different than the header above the portfolio pages. It sounds like you figured out how to do this? If you have can you explain it again? I’m not sure that you are doing exactly what I want to do.

I didn’t get any responses on this, so I just took a shortcut.

I leave copies of my preferred images in the twenty thirteen images/headers folder with different names and anytime the theme updates, I simply overwrite the stock images with my preferred ones.

    Not elegant, but it works.
