I would suggest to change the color of the menu items in your main navigation. Or the background color, which is very similar.
The black colored text in the sidebar might be also hard to read for some.

I think that the site will look a bit weird on an iPad in landscape. Check the behaviour of the site when you make the browser smaller. The sidebar goes beyond the main content area but it stays on the right: you could center it?

Is is very difficult to read the text where you have the purple background colors. Either change the color of the text or the background color.
