have 4 years old WP database – how to migrate it to new WP?

  • I have a 4 years old WP database that used to host and want to start it up again. I have the db in a MySQL db AND the site files,. How should I migrate it to the newest WP install?

    Current:
    $wp_version = ‘2.5.1’;
    $wp_db_version = 7796;

    I know to back it up first, then what? I am good with mysql and php but don’t know WP upgrade or migrate.
