• Hi Alex

These videos are configured as hidden from vimeo.com and are only embeddable on certain domains. You know, the standard membership site stuff. Videos themselves are displaying fine, which is awesome. But I really need the featured image autogeneration to work here. Are you able to test the Vimeo Plus / Pro account features? I could buy a temporary subscription for you as a contribution to your work, if it helps.

Yeah, the issue is Simple API doesn’t let you get private video metadata.

With the help https://github.com/vimeo/vimeo-php-lib how difficult would it be to fall to Advanced API?

This seems to be out of scope for this.. The image pulling capability is just a neat bonus to the main “embed the video!” functionality. If the video is being displayed fine no one should ever see the image. I am sure there is a way to download the image and upload it manually to WordPress if it’s just your personal side.. If it’s for a client maybe hard code their api key into the php code? Never looked into how Vimeo handles private videos and API request for those.

Thanks for looking into this. I wouldn’t say “out of scope”, but it’s definitely not a trivial patch either.

My desired end result is exactly the “Open video overlay when featured image is clicked. Define width below!” functionality. None of the other options seem to do the overlay functionality, so I cannot avoid the featured image part.

    Or am I missing something?

Thats correct, but you can still manually define featured images.
