date in correct language

Hi, im running a wpml install, however i have used a short code [date] on one of my pages and i want it to show the correct date and spelling of the month in the relevant language, the site has dk. uk. and de… the shortcode only gets the english in,, i tried using a guide in codex and the site crashed, so i restored and dont wish to have to kill it again, can anyone help!
