    Hi,
Does Wordfence comment spam protection act in real-time? I.e.: when someone posts a comment is it scanned for spam? Or, does it only check comments during the scan phase? I’m wondering because my previous blog was hacked and I’m not sure if it was through comments or an admin login. I also don’t know if hacking through comments is possible, but I did have some comments from the hacker…

    Hi LuciFit,

We actually do both. We scan comments for malware URLs and other heuristics as they arrive on your site and work alongside any other plugins like Akismet to flag comments as spam if they’re bad.

We also regularly rescan all your comments in case a URL which was previously OK is now a malware site and if we find something we don’t throw it in spam, instead we alert you to the issue.

    Regards,

    Mark.
