• This is the email I got from Acenet today. Does anybody know if WordPress has the backup data for my blog?

    Dear Acenet Client,

We regret to inform you that the home partition on ice.securenet-server.net was lost. When the server was powered back on, boot required a file system check on the home partition. Once completed, the server rebooted (as normal) only to require another file system check on the home partition. This went on three times.
It appeared it was going to be an endless loop of file system checks and reboots, so one of the attending data center technicians commented out the home partition in the file system tab. When the server came online, home would not mount until after a manual file system check. The home partition ended up mounting, but it was completely empty.
Unfortunately, raid-10 cannot be of any aid in a situation like this, so you will need to re-upload your home files.
The good news, if any, is that your MySQL databases are fully intact. We do backup all system configuration files and MySQL databases daily, weekly, and monthly; if mysql databases were corrupted or lost, we would be able to restore them.
Again, we apologize for the inconvenience, but you will need to re-upload your website files. Raid-10 can protect against most hardware issues, but it was unable to aid in this incident. Due to this, Acenet will be researching additional data protection measures for the home directory.

If you were previously using any scripts, you can simply re-upload the latest version of the script and re-attach your MySQL database to the new script installation. If you need help with this, or anything else, open a tech support ticket and our technicians will be more than happy to assist you.

Again, we are extremely sorry for the inconvenience,
    Acenet Engineering

  • Hi,

do as they say, reinstall your WP installation.

Cheap host by the way – a nightly save of the whole HDD is the least of all security measures I require of a host. My current one has managed to play back just about any installation and account as needed.

I reinstalled it but everythig is gone. Does this mean I’ve lost all my old post’s?

Does your host have PHPMyAdmin? If so, log into it, and check your database to make sure that the database in which all your data was stored still has that data (it should be wp, wordpress, etc). If you still remember what you had in your old wp-config file, there was a section which asked which database you were going to be storing the data on, just check that one. Well, if that’s intact, you can reinstall wordpress (as they told you), using the same database for the installation. After that’s done, you should have all your posts, etc from your old installation. You WILL be missing all your themes and other plugins though, since all of those got deleted.

Got it fixed. Yeah, all my themes and plugins are gone but at least I have all of my archives. Thanx.

    So, mark this resolved?
