Customize shop page: clicking the product gallery photo

The WooCommerce is very nice.

Currently, when user clicks the thumbnail product gallery photo at right side, a pop up photo carousel let the user browse through.

Want to customize the “Shop” page, such that when user clicks the thumbnail product gallery photo at right side, it replaces the middle large picture.

Can anyone tell me some hints on how could I make this possible ?
