I have a large website and any shortcodes I was using for NextGEN are now displaying : [Not a valid template]

What should I use now, to put galleries in template files?

Also, I used your ‘guide’ to add an Image Browser style gallery in a page; it just outputs 1 image (should be 13).

Seems like the whole plugin has changed, and not for the better or ease of developers (or customers!).

  • I updated NextGEN too and my shortcodes are broken also.

    [album id=3 template=compact]

That is the short code I was using (was working until I updated), I looked through the new NextGen and cannot find any “new” shortcodes.

I am pretty new to this maybe I am just missing them?

Shortcodes not working could be due to a number of reasons but all of the NextGEN Legacy version shortcodes (with a few exceptions) were transitioned into the current version of NextGEN Gallery.

[album id=3 template=compact] for example should still continue to work just fine. For a full list of the new shortcodes, please see this page: https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/nextgen-gallery-shortcodes/

If you are still experiencing issues with Shortcodes not working please feel free to submit a Bug Report here: https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/

    Thanks!

    HI Cais,
Ok I figured out the issue maybe it is something you can look into.

here is the full code from the page:

    [album id=3 template=compact]

    [blogs cant=3]

When I remove the [blogs cant=3] the shortcode for the album starts working. Hopefully this help for now my problem is solved however I would like to get the blog items back up on the page.

@tand – The [album] shortcode is correct and I am glad it is working for you but I am not familiar with what uses the [blogs] shortcode, is that from a plugin or your active theme?

You may also want to contact that respective author to see if they are working on a solution to this issue as well.

    Thanks!

    – Cais.

@cais the [blogs] short code shows the most recent posts. I do not think it is a plugin so it must be a active theme. I didnt create the theme and the person who did will not be working with the site any longer.

I am very new to the wordpress platform (and any platform for that matter). Thanks again for your help

My issue was with the [imagebrowser] shortcode; any ideas?

I can’t get the original code from my Dropbox, but you can see a demo here:

    https://31.25.188.124/~largemod/gallery-test/

I’ve gone into the Page, clicked the Gallery icon,
    selected “NextGEN Basic ImageBrowser”,
    selected my Gallery,
“customise the display settings” is set to “NextGEN: imagebrowser.php”,
I leave “sort or exclude” as default,
    and press Save.

    It outputs this: <img class="ngg_displayed_gallery mceItem" alt="" src="https://31.25.188.124/~largemod/nextgen-attach_to_post/preview/id--4945" />

OK i think half the issue is, I had styling applied, which I’ve removed and this is now showing the prev / next.

The reason i was hiding/editing the prev/next is because I had the option selected to use AJAX to reload the next image, without refreshing the page.

Is that still possible as I dont see it in the settings?
