Tried to edit functions.php, blog now gone.
-
Hello all,
The website in question is https://www.oceansidefades.com
I have read through 20+ similar threads, but I have some extra issues that prevent me from following past advice.
I have minimal knowledge of CSS and HTML, so I enlisted the help of my programmer friend to help me edit the code. Everything was running perfectly fine, until I decided I wanted to stretch my background image instead of it “repeating”.
He had put part of the background code into the functions.php file, the other in style.css. I didn’t know which one to change and apparently I changed the wrong one.
Cue White screen of death. I did clear my cache and cookies from this computer. Nothing changed. I tried to view the site from a different computer and also my phone. Nothing is there.
I am using the Customizr! theme and was given the task to update/make the site more “cool”. Previous theme was color
Some things to note:
1. I do NOT have WordPress downloaded onto a computer, I have always entered it through https://www.oceansidefades.com/wp-admin.2. I took over this website, so the host(godaddy) and cpanel were already set up.
3. My FTP server is Parallels Panel, which is telling me that I have accessed it to many times and wont let me log in. I’ve only accessed it 2 time since I was given this task.
So after reading similar problems in other threads, I can’t follow the advice to go into my FTP and get the original code and replace it or whatever because I’m having issues getting into my FTP….I have let my boss know but he hasn’t gotten back to me yet.
Is there any way I can fix this without having to go into my FTP??
Will I have to start all over??
Again, I am kind of a noob at this stuff…i apologize in advance if I missed something another post said!Thank you!
