making revolution slider as wide as page in container

  • HI – Using Attitude, box format –
    I would like Revolution Slider to be as wide as the whole page (#container ) –
    what is the best way to do this?
    I see that #container has max-width of 978 – is the best way to change that to 1038, in which case left padding has to be added to all other elements within the container, etc… or is there another way to do it?

    update: I just discovered putting this code <?php putRevSlider(“slider1″,”homepage”) ?>
    within the header.php before the #container div works –

    (I assume creating a child theme is advised to do this )

    So is this the best way, do you think, to get the slider full width then, or is there a better way?
