Can't insert photo into post or page since 3.5

  • Since upgrading to WP 3.5 (and now 3.6) I am not able to insert photos into posts or pages using the “Insert into Post” button. I’ve read other posts about similar issues with Media Manager, but none describe exactly what’s happening on my end:

    -The “add Media” button works fine from the POST and PAGE dashboards. It takes me to the Media Library window where I CAN upload photos.
    -I can see all the photos in my library
    -I can see the URL for the photo I select in the Media Settings panel.
    -I can add a Featured Image (to a page)
    -But, I cannot add a photo to the body of a post or page. Clicking the “Insert” button takes me back to the post/page dashboard. No image has been inserted.

    As a work-around I have been inserting the image(s) by copying & pasting the URL and adding the necessary img src information.

    Would be great to use the automated function again.

    Our site (academyatthelakes.org) uses a custom template (has worked flawlessly until the 3.5 update). Just had my web developer manually update to WP 3.6. The problem still persists, regardless of the browser (we’ve tested Firefox, Safari, Chrome, IE). We are hosted on Media Temple.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.
