Using "Jetpack"
-
I was over at my “Dashboard” that the “wp-admin” pulled up for me; and I discovered “Jetpack” wants me to connect my website to WordPress.com using a button they have on that page; and they tell me, once I’ve made the connection, I will have activated a large variety of features that, in my ignorance of what I’m actually doing, looks good.
This is rather confusing to me because I already have WordPress connected to my motdaugrnds.com site, which is the only site I have and is the only site I want. I do want all the help I can get in creating what I want with WordPress and I don’t want to do anything that would cause problems for myself by duplicating what I’ve already done or by trying to overwrite it.
The only things I want to create with WordPress is a store and 3 different types of blogs. (The rest of my site has already been created and uploaded via an FTP program called FileZilla; and I don’t want anything I do within the WordPress program to overwrite or interfere in any way with this.)
Should I go ahead and click this Jetpack’s “connect to WordPress.com” button to activate all those features? (I’m wondering if this “WordPress.com” is different from the WordPress “program” I already have connected to my one domain.) If I do add those features, will they, too, be connected to my one and only domain; and if so, will they cause problems with what I’ve already done?
So far, I’ve done nothing within the WordPress program; but it is such a wonderful program I would very much like to use it. Any help in tis matter would be appreciated.
