• Hello, I am hoping someone can help me. I purchased a wordpress template site (a template design site) that I modified. The designers of the site said they can not support my question, that is is beyond their scope, as well as my hosting site. ??

My question is, I want to add an audio player to my site to play a loop of music I purchases site wide. Because this is a template site any of the audio players I tried will not work. I am fairly new to wordpress, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I want this audio player to play my purchase of an audio file looped and site wide. I want it to be simple. I can’t seem to do it on a single page, but again. I want it site wide.

I purchased a wordpress template site (a template design site) that I modified.

What theme are you using? Where did you download it from?
WordPress 3.6 has a native audio player by default. Have you reviewed Audio_Shortcode?

What do you mean by ” play a loop of music I purchases site wide”?

Hi Esmi, thank you for your reply and help. I did purchase mine from a site with designed templates. I got it from Themeforest and the designer/programmer is WPBandit. They have said this is not a support issue they can answer: https://themeforest.net/item/feather-responsive-portfolio-wordpress-theme/2874150?WT.ac=search_item&WT.seg_1=search_item&WT.z_author=wpbandit. I am up to date on their update, as well as wordpress. I had 2 things that were very important to me, that they do not support: to add an audio player and social media. I have tried plugins for audio and have not been successful in any of them I have tried. I want it to be a music loop that plays automatically, throughout each page (that is what i mean by #audioloopsitewide). They have not supported me because they say it is not in the support guidelines. I guess that means if it is not in the design, it’s not supported. On other issues they have been great. I assumed I would be able to add things in that wordpress had. I am a newbie to wordpess. While I love the design, I have been disappointed to find I can’t utilize some functions wordpress has, but is not in their design. Had I known this, I would not have purchased it.

My other issue was social media icons. They said in the update they will provide more social icons, but that could be months and I need to utilize the ones available now. They do not include all of the icons I need, such as pinterest, instagram, or a facebook ‘like’ button. I was only able to use facebook, twitter and linkedin. I did do a search on wordpress plugins and found what I needed. But they do not work in this template. I have read on their support site that people can customize, to which they do not support and I understand that. But in my research I have found nothing that would help me and I am at wits end because my site launched without some important functionality a couple months ago. I know there is option to customize, but I have NO idea how. I am not a programmer, just a designer.

I hope this all makes sense and sorry about the length!

With regard to the social media icons, there are a ton of plugins out there that offer this kind of functionality.

With regard to the sound, it’s not something I can help you with as this automatic playing of audio causes serious problems for a whole range of potential site visitors. In fact, depending upon your country’s current legislation, it may even place your site on the wrong side of anti-discrimination laws.

    Sorry. ??

Thank you. I did try many plugins for the social media and they did not work properly.

Can you please explain anti discrimination laws on a website? I have never heard of this. I viewed many templates that had this feature, I almost bought them, but liked the feather design best and thought I could add it later. It seems ubsurd there could be anti discrimination laws for such a thing! I am in the US.

Can you please explain anti discrimination laws on a website?

Not every visitor to a site uses a graphical browser. Some visually-impaired users (for example) use screen reading software that “reads” pages to the user. If your site plays audio automatically, the user cannot:

    1) hear the output from their own screen reading software
    2) turn the audio off.

End result: they cannot use your web site. In many countries, equal access to web sites is mandated by law. If your site cannot be used by some disabled user groups, then your site may fall foul of this law.

Wow I have never heard this. Thank you for sharing. My page however is an artist site and a person would have to be able to see, due to it being visual and mostly galleries. But I never want to discriminate. I will look into this more. Thank you for your time!
