• I have been using BackupWordPress for a number of years with no problems.
I have 10 backups on the server but notice the last successful backup jumped in size from 338MB to 2GB – This was on 9 July.
    Each backup has failed since.

I have just run a manual backup and got the following error:
    Your backup failed
Here’s the response from the server:

    500 Internal Server Error

    Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or
misconfiguration and was unable to complete
    your request.
    Please contact the server administrator
and inform them of the time the error occurred,
and the actions you performed just before this error.
More information about this error may be available
    in the server error log.

Apache Server at https://www.goingoverland.com Port 80

I notice it is now stating the estimated backup size is 13GB.

I don’t understand why is the size increasing so dramatically.
Can you advise what I can do to get the backups working again?

can you check if there are multiple folders named like this:
    /wp-content/backupwordpress-d7236cce36-backups/

If there are, check to see if they are excluded in the Excludes popup. If not you’ll need to add the exclude rule.
You can then delete the faulty backup files to save space. Download them to your computer first just to be on the safe side.

Here are instructions for creating exclude rules

Also, please deactivate and reactivate the plugin.

    Hi

I have checked and can’t find any duplicate folders.

I have downloaded the zip files and deleted them.

I deactivated and reactivated the plugin but it’s still not working.

I deleted the plugin and reinstalled it. The new estimated file size is 4GB.

I ran a manual backup which failed with the same error message as above. When I checked the server the following files were in the backup directory:

    Index.html – 0B
    .htaccess – 275B
    .schedule-default-1-running – 101B
    goingoverland-com-default-1-complete-2013-08-28-20-51-30.sql – 20MB
    ziy9R6qm – 8.2GB

    Any ideas?
