Help – all videos are suddenly starting with autoplay – but setting is off

    All the YouTube videos on my site are suddenly starting automatically with the Vixy plugin.

    This was never the case previously and is, as you can imagine, a nightmare for pages with more than one video.

    I am using the default setting and the autoplay option box is NOT checked. I have tried checking it and unchecking it again but whatever the setting, the videos still autoplay.

    I have also tried adding the code ?autoplay=0 to the end of the YouTube codes but that doesn’t help either.

    I really need to turn this off and would appreciate any suggestions.

  • I’ve just checked your site and the videos are not auto-starting – I’m using Chrome. Have you resolved the problem?

    Applian – that’s bizarre – I am using Chrome too and they are definitely autostarting starting on mine. I just tried logging out of the site but that made no difference either.

    Unfortunately I am away from base at the moment and can only try on one MacBook so maybe it is something to do with my machine? I do have an iPad to hand and have just checked and that is not autostarting so maybe the problem is my Macbook – are you aware of any settings that might be causing it to autoplay?

    Unless YouTube have changed the default settings I can’t see why it should autostart – certainly the code being generated didn’t include anything to cause it.

    Have you tried adding autostart=no to the shortcode?

    e.g. [youtube autostart=no]videoid[/youtube]

    That will force the autostart off. Please let me know if that works.

    PS. I too was testing it on Chrome on Macbook, so I don’t think it’s that causing it.

    I just tried the [youtube autostart=no] code on the most recent video and that made no difference – it still autostarts on my machine.

    If it is just this MacBook I’m not too worried although it is a bit odd.

    I will try to test on another machine as soon as I can and see what results I get.
