Move entire site into a sub page?

    Hi,

    I have a website (leoahrens.com) set up currently that is outdated and I would like to change it up. However I do not want to delete the site and it’s current functions…

    Is there anyway I could transfer the current site and all of its links to be under a page like leoahrens.com/oldsite ..? And then if you click a link within that site it would go to pages like leoahrens.com/oldsite/about . I have no idea how to explain it that well therefor I have no idea how to search for other post regarding this. I think it might be along the lines of archiving a website?

    Is this something for a subdomain??? Could I move the current site to oldsite.leoahrens.com then be able to have leoahrens.com be something different?

    I’m using godaddy.com for hosting and domain.

    I tried setting up AKhighway.leoahrens.com and it asked me where I wanted to redirect that too so I said LeoAhrens.com which seems wrong cause I want to change leoarhens.com to something new…

    I’m really confused now…

    it’s now AK.leoahrens.com to slim it down a little but I still am very confused…

    A new day, a new attempt at making this thing work!

    Make a subfolder in your root folder called “oldsite” and copy all the current files and folders to that and ideally it should work.

    You should be able to access using leoahrens.com/oldsite

    I’m using GoDaddy for hosting.

    I’m not exactly sure how or what files to move into a new file as your stated above^

    When I open the ‘File Manager’ on GoDaddy there is a ‘html’ file that has these files within it; [Error Logs], cgi, wp-admin, ap-content, wp-includes.

    i’m guessing the ‘html’ file is the root file that I need to move into a new file; ‘oldsite’? That seems logical but I’m having a problem creating a a new file on the same level as the ‘html’ meaning I can only create a new file within the ‘html’ folder.

    That’s where I’m at right now. Hope I explained that well enough….

    Called GoDaddy and got the run down!

    Within my GoDaddy account they had me set up a new subdomain; AK.leoahrens.com. Inside that new subdomain I am to install a whole new WordPress site. So now I have two WordPress sites with two different logins….

    AK.leoahrens.com/wp-admin
    &
    leoahrens.com/wp-admin.

    I now have to transfer all the files from the old site to the new subdomains wordpress and then I can restart on the current domain. It’s perfect!

    As much as I hate supporting big corporate companies such as GoDaddy I must say they have terrific customer service and are very easy to work with!

    Problem SOLVED!
