• Does anyone know why this plugin sometimes selects the wrong featured image after i MANUALLY added the featured image to the post? My plugin settings are like this: https://i.imgur.com/yYDKItu.jpg

i have tried to both activate and disable the “set video thumbnails as featured image”. but i noticed that when i have this feature on, 40% of all the post i add gets the wrong thumbnail. but when disabling this feature im getting around 20% wrong thumbnails on the posts.

this is really getting frustrating and i need to get this fixed since my other plugns thats uses the featured images are all displaying the wrong thumbnail for the posts.

I have also tried with some “auto set featured post image” plugins without any results.

Can you walk me through the workflow that leads to this? What is the wrong featured image that you’re seeing? Is the issue that you set a featured image using the “Set Featured Image” tab in the Add Media box and then you find instead that a video thumbnail that was generated by my plugin has been set as a featured image? It’s hard to say for sure, but my best guess is the videos you’re having a problem with have the checkbox “Set thumbnail as featured image” checked on their individual pages like this https://www.kylegilman.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Set-thumbnail-as-featured-image.jpg

    Hi!

the first time i noised this problem was when i had the “Set thumbnail as featured image” active in the plugin settings and it was “active” during the “generating thumbnails” feature. But i noticed that when i upload a few videos at the same time and save them to the draft. a few of them would recieve the wrong thumbnail. note that the thumbnails are correct in when saving the post to draft. but when checking the same saved draft post a while later some of them would have gotten the thumbnails mixed up. like post nr 3 would have generated thumbnail from post nr 6 etc.

i even tried to install different “auto featured thumbnails” plugins without any results. This problem seems to be happening with videos and the thumbnails created by the plugin. i tried to do the same thing with setting manual thumbnails to a few IMAGE posts and didnt have any problems there.

Any idea what could be wrong?

Just an update. i tried with activating the option “Set thumbnail as featured image” in the plugin section. and uploaded 7 videos and let the plugin choose the featured image instead of me manually adding them and ONLY the first video got a thumbnail attached to the post, the rest didnt even get any thumbnail so i manually added thumbnails created by the plugin and saved the posts to draft, then i went back to draft and opened all the 7 posts and 3 of them had the wrong thumbnail attached to the post (including the first post that the plugin auto choose the thumbnail)

any idea on how to fix this?

Hi i found out that when i upload 1 video at a time the featured images get right. but when i choose to upload several videos at the same time the featured images gets all messed up. but as i said, if i upload one video at a time it works fine. Perhaps theres a bug in the plugin?

Oh, are you uploading multiple videos to the same post? If you upload several videos at the same time they will be attached to the post you are currently editing. There’s no way for the plugin to know that you want them to be attached to different posts. Look in the Media Library (wp-admin/upload.php) and you’ll see a column called “Uploaded to” which will tell you which posts your media is affiliated with. By default WordPress has no ability to change attachment parents, but there is a plugin called Change Attachment Parent that should allow you to modify existing attachments.

    Hi!

sorry , you got it wrong. when i upload i usually upload 5-10 videos at the same time to wordpress, but i do not attach all the videos to the same post. when the videos have been uploaded to wordpress. ill add one video per post. then save the post to draft, create a new post and attach one more video to the new post and so on…

but i notised that when uploading only one video to wordpress, create a new post and then add the video and save it and from there create a new post and upload another video the featured images seems to be working fine.

    phattrance et al,
This aligns with the WordPress logic.
Media is not attached to a post just because its inserted into its content. It has to be uploaded from that post. This plugin probably requires it to be attached.
