• Googlebot for some reason is spidering and indexing my blog pages much less frequently than my regular static webpages elsewhere in the rest of my site. Googlebot appears to like my static html pages better. I am using the google sitemaps plugin and it appears to be working fine. I check my site for possible duplicate content with copyscape.com and there appears to be no problem there.

I wonder what I might be doing wrong.

I think you answered your own question.

The point of having a sitemap is to let Google know when your pages were last updated. So Google gets the sitemap, sees that a bunch of your blog pages have not changed, and doesn’t bother getting them.

    This is a good thing.

I am using a similar Google sitemap for my main website, but googlebot is still spidering and indexing new pages much faster and more frequently than any of my blog pages.

I added a new static html page to my main site, and it got spidered and indexed by googlebot in about a week, while a new page in my blog “Press release” I added about a month ago is still not yet indexed.
