This is probably a silly question but I’ve just updated the plugin and the last time I updated I set off a ton of duplicate meta descriptions in GWT (some of them still haven’t cleared out of my account), do I need to check the following setting to prevent it from happening again “Remove Descriptions For Paginated Pages:”

    Thank you for the assistance.

  • miavitadolce,

Yes, that would be the setting to check.

Thank you Peter, I knew I could count on you, you’re always so helpful. And sorry for being such a pain, at some point this will all come together for me!

    miavitadolce,

You should note that it can take months for duplicate meta warnings to be deleted from GWT. There’s no way to force Google to remove them, you just have to ignore them if you know you already fixed them.

    Good Morning

Thank wpsmort, the first time it happened to me I panicked and researched the hec out of the topic hoping to find a fix. I learned form that exercise that all you had to do was be patient.

    Have a great day!

Also note that pressing the update button on old pages will cause duplicate meta description and titles if you have these options set to auto-generate! (like i just found out the hard way)

If you make changes to old content slugs and post titles

and yes…i am starving for the next two weeks until this traffic comes back
