TechMag Theme customization – Slider

Hello, I’m trying to customize the TechMag theme by WPDance on my site: https://www.laredodaily.com, but I haven’t been able to figure out how to do the following:

? I don’t want every category (Local News, US, World, Crime&Arrests) to appear on the front page, in the slider. Instead I want to remove the slider entirely and display a static story description with an image on top of it, and the other recently manually selected posts to display (only titles and links) below it in a list style.

How can I accomplish this?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
