• in trying to set up a feedburner account, i am getting validation errors on my feed and noticed that the ONLY thing showing up in my feed is the content from my links page.

i am using the ol_feedburner plugin. i tried without the plugin and got the same results.

i also checked the rss 2.0 and rss comments from the site itself (chicklets in the sidebar), and it looks like the same thing is happening there.

i’m a syndication newb and am worried i’m missing something blatant. ??

    my site

    any thoughts?
    thanks,
    monica

  • I noticed that your Feed is not in RSS format, it is on OPML. I don’t know how you got to change from RSS or RSS2 to OPML.

Look at my Feed’s code on my site (link at the bottom of the page) and notice the differences.

Maybe it has to do with the plugin you added?

hmmm, yeah i am getting some sort of opml error too when i try to validate the feeds. i’m not sure why they’re not using rss/rss2.

this was actually happening before i installed the plugin i mentioned. i’ve been trying to figure it out for a couple of days and installed the plugin to see if it made any difference. haha

i’ll keep researching and check our your feed’s code, thanks for the input.

it was an easy fix. i just replaced the following files with fresh copies from the latest wp pkg:

    wp-rss.php
    wp-rss2.php
    wp-feed.php

silicone, i’m not sure how to answer your question, but you might have better luck starting a new thread about search engine optimization?

Also, if you are interested on making sure your RSS2.0 validates, change the following on your WordPress installation:

Find wp-rss2.php under your wordpress root directory.

    Within the file find:

    wfw:commentRSS

    change it to:

    wfw:commentRss

Note that the ‘SS’ of ‘RSS’ changed to lower case.

    Then this will validate.

    good luck again.
