You can use the standard register_sidebar function:

or use wp plugin ‘Shortcodes in Sidebar Widgets’ this will allow you to use shortcodes in Text widget and then use shortcode [events_list] – https://wp-events-plugin.com/documentation/shortcodes/

however, it depends if your theme supports widgets in your homepage. also, try <?php echo do_shortcode('[events_list]'); ?> in your homepage template
