Disable/ Eliminate the non-Primary Sub-folder URL from main Network site?

I’d like the same for Site 4, 5 and so on.

Only the primary domains should work and the sub-folder path/ URL should not work.

But, I’d like only the Primary domain mapping to work.

When you add the domain map there is a radio that allows you to select the primary domain for that site. Use the radio to select the mapped domain as the primary. The other URLS will redirect to the primary.

The 5 checkboxes in the settings (when checked)

Remote Login – logged in user is logged into both domain.com/site and mapped-domain.com
Permanent redirect – a permanent redirect header is used (vs a temporary redirect) when redirecting from non-primary to primary
User domain mapping page – the domain mapping tool screen is shown on sub sites under tools
Redirect administration pages to site’s original domain – site dashboard runs under the domain.com/site/wp-admin URL
Disable primary domain check – disables the redirect from non-primary domain to primary domain

The other URLS will redirect to the primary.

– Is there no way to plain ‘DISABLE’ this non-primary domain completely. I do no want a redirect from the non-primary path to primary domain.
– I want that PATH to NOT-EXIST or be ALIVE at all.

Or is that what the last option does? Tried it, but it just disables the redirection. Is there no way to simply DISABLE that URL/PATH?

Make that path call Not exist / 404?

The goal and objective here was to completely have no relationship or redirection or path exist between..

Main Site: d-1.org
Site 3: d-1.com and d-1.org/com

Currently the d-1.org/com redirects to d-1.com. I could disable the redirect but then it would show as: d-1.org/com

How do I totally eliminate: d-1.org/com and make it a non-existent path.

The way to accomplish that is to never link to it anywhere.

You can do that in your web server config/htaccess.

– Why cant we add that as an option on the plugin?

After all, we are catching/ hooking onto the requests coming in?
IP/TCP > HTTP > SERVER (APACHE etc) > WORDPRESS > PLUGIN

Or is that somehow impossible to implement due to the way WordPress extends itself to Plugins?

I have one last question in this direction and I was wondering if you could enlighten me?

I go to Network Admin > My Sites and list All Sites.

In that I click EDIT for the site that has the domain mapping:
d-1.org/com > d-1.com

In that it shows me these fields:

Domain https:// d-1.org
Path /com/
Update siteurl and home as well.

Now am curious and wondering this.. what if I change the fields above as such and hit update:

Domain https:// d-1.com
Path /com/ <- Eliminate this.

What would happen then?

Also, if I am doing to use your plugin to map these would it better to have a Sub-domain WordPress Network Install instead of the /subdir/ it currently has?? Or does this only work with /subdir/ network?

Don’t do this. Domain mapping will catch the domain url and hook it up with the correct site.

One major question: When I have “About” pages for the variety of sites on my network, the pages permalink shows as “About-2”
Same thing with “Home” – “Home-2”, “Home-3”

Is there some way to fix this and have this not happen and go back to Home, About?

It doesn’t matter. Use subdomains or subdirs depending on the type of URL you want for your non mapped sites.
