I have just upgraded to the latest version of WordPress 3.6 and I have started seeing unwanted links appearing on my pages.

the links are to external sites such as clickcompare.info, local.smartshopping.com, pricerunner.co.uk.

    take a look at https://www.wildlifephotographyafrica.com

These links appeared first in Firefox and now in Chrome.
I’m pretty sure it’s some kind of malware/Spyware but none of my anti virus programs can detect anything.

The links only appear on my WordPress site and only since I upgraded to version 3.6.
How can I get rid of this?

  • where are the links? In the body of text or elsewhere?

The links are in the body of the text and seem to be keywords selected by an external site.

A sucuri scan did not show anything untoward on your site and I cannot see any unusual links in the text when I view it (I’ve only used an iPad though as I’m out & about)

I would suspect a PC virus or other malware on your computer – possibly something like smart suggestor which pretends to be a valid tool to get people to install it.

can you see the links in view source? some theams or plugin downloaded from pirated sites may contain these codes with links, or may be your browsers got some extension that sows it as ads. check the site on other computer, i haven’t clicked on your link

I can’t see any links at all in the body of text so think it may be a virus on your computer.

I think you may be right cannon303. I have managed to block whatever it is on Chrome using Adblock, but it is still appearing on Firfefox and now shows on another website too.

Unless anyone knows how to resolve this in Firefox let’s close this topic as it is clearly not a WordPress issue.
Thanks to all of you for your assistance.
