Our client would like to use the WooCommerce cart functionality to better manage orders. The problem is that none of the items in their catalog need prices; everything is sold off of quotes, and in essence, the site functions as an online catalog.

However, customers call and don’t always recall the distinctions between various models of products like chairs or cubicles, and it would be helpful to their sales team if customers could submit an order with a “quote” functionality to be handled manually by the sales team instead of completing a transaction online.

Obviously, this could be handled by setting all prices to zero, but we certainly don’t want to give the impression that the wares are free.

So you need the checkout process to basically be transformed into a quote request for the products in the cart?

You might be able to do this by tweaking one of the built in non-transactional payment gateways (BACS or Check) to explain the system and steps to proceed.

You will definitely need to do some modification as this isn’t something WooCommerce caters for out of the box.

    Thanks

Well, for a decision to be made, I’d need to take it to my boss armed with the info of how long that process will take and how much it will cost. Who do I speak to about this, as I’m no proficient enough in PHP myself.

    Thanks,
    Angel
