  • What exactly do you mean by “duplicating”? To publish the same post once again? or..?

This is something I’m keen on also.

What I’m after is the ability to create a post with the same content as another.

Has anyone seen or heard of anything like this?

Can you give an example of why you might want to do this?

    Thanks HandySolo.

I have several *pages* in my site which will have very similar content – but not identical. I’d like to be able to duplicate a page to serve as a template for the others.

    Know what I mean?

Ideally it would be great to make a Page template with editable, pre-populated content. Is this doable?

    This doesn’t make duplicate content

Only when you have same content in different url(permalinks) that know to be duplicate content , web master should decided which content should be indexed, don’t give a chance for Bot to decided .

xinfo – I’m not quite sure what you mean…

I’m not concerned about bots in the slightest – I just want to be able to duplicate a page.

You know – a “Create a copy of this post/page” button. Or a “Duplicate Page” button somewhere.

Essentially it would duplicate the post/page, then allow me to edit it.

@waydomatic – I understand what you’re after. I’ll confess I’ve not seen anything like that (which doesn’t mean a plugin to do it doesn’t exist!).

One thought that pops into mind though… One of the others here (vkaryl or doodlebee?) mentioned customizing quicktag buttons in the non-wysiwyg editor that contained templates or “post skeleton” type stuff. Maybe that approach would be worth looking into? It wouldn’t copy an entire Page’s contents, but you could have a common look or framework pasted in at a click.

    That sounds great HandySolo.

If I can’t find anything, it may be a nice first plugin job for me. ??

    Cheers.
