My WordPress site (chefatlarge.in) runs on a dedicated server. The editor (new or edit) shows as a rectangle with two tabs above the top right corner (Visual, Text), both of which do not work. Text is invisible with only the red (incorrect spelling) underlines visible. No toolbar buttons. The ‘Add Media’ button doesn’t work either.

    I’ve tried the following:
    – Enabling/disabling plugins
    – Disabling concatenation of JS via wp-config.php
    – Adding an extended TinyMCE plugin
    – Adding WP Super Edit plugin
    – Clearing the cache
    – Switching to the default theme
    – Adding/removing Use Google Libraries
    – Disabling the All-in-One SEO plugin

Please help. The site has multiple authors, generating more than a hundred articles a month and this cripples our functionality.

    Stay well.
    Sid

  • Try these steps:
    – deactivate all plugins and see if the problem persists. If it solves the problem, activate plugins one by one until you find the problematic one
    – revert to Twenty Twelve theme and see if the issue is theme-specific
    – delete any inactive plugins
reinstall WordPress manually from a freshly downloaded copy except wp-content. Do not overwrite files/ folders but delete them before reinstalling.
    – run the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

Use FTP or your hosting control panel if you cannot access or use dashboard. Backup your site including database so that you can restore in case anything goes wrong.

Thank you Krishna. I’d already done all of those, with the exception of re-installing manually.

Having said that, this issue is resolved. It was a permissions issue with the wp-includes folder, that prevented WP from loading TinyMCE.

    Thank you. ??

    Stay well.

Ours was an issue of permissions HLvdN. Fixing the permissions resolved the problem. Hope this helps.
