Add post category to slider title?

Hi, I would like to know if there is a function or hook I can implement that will allow me to append the category of a post to the title that is used in the slider. I really only want to do this for 1 category and I have 6 categories total. So if the post is in category “X” then add the category to the title, if it is not then just use the post title. Thanks for any insight!
