• I took the WP hosting rec and signed up with Blue Host. I was able to install WP and start my blog with little difficulty.

Now I’m wrestling with trying to put the Adsense code into WP. I created a folder in the BH file manager for the WP plugins and created a file for Adsense and pasted the code into that file.

After refreshing, etc., there’s no Adsense. And it doesn’t appear in the WP Plugin manager tab, just the three stock plugins.

Your help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Bob

  • WordPress should have already created a plugins folder in the install. Where did you create a folder? Perhaps it is not where wordpress expects it to be.

The wordpress setup will look to wp-comtent/plugins/ and subdirectories below this for the plugin files.

Look for wordpress widgets, that might be able to help you. It’s a new plugin from the makers of wordpress that lets you customise your sidebar really easily.

and created a file for Adsense and pasted the code into that file.

What exactly do you mean by this? Like, you made a new file and then just pasted adsense code from Google’s site into that file?

Sorry, but that won’t work. You can add adsense code to your theme, or to a widget if you use widgets, or you can install a special adsense plugin. But plugin files have a specific format, and just creating a file and dropping in Adsense code from Google’s adsense tool won’t magically make it get inserted anywhere.
