    Hi,
Very inexperienced wordpress user here – can anyone please help?
I have recently just upgraded a site to latest 3.5.2 and have found that a lot of my images are not showing in back-end media although still showing in pages.
I have tried uploading some new pictures but these will not show and thus cannot get them into a post/page

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

Thanks so much for that Esmi.
I have just deactivated all plugins and changed theme to default – no change.
I am very much a newbie as regards resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin.
    Could you possibly please advise?
I think I get to file manager though hosing Control Panel?

Can we see the site using the default Twenty Twelve theme with all other plugins deactivated?

Do you want my sign-in details for the wp-admin?

I cannot see any obvious image issues on your site.

    Thanks for checking.
the problem is in the Back-end wp-admin control panel.
In Media a lot of my pictures have crashed (not all of them) but any new pictures I try to upload will not upload properly so I cannot add any new pictures to my posts/pages

any new pictures I try to upload will not upload properly

Can you clarify? What happens when you upload a new image?

It up loads as a blank square with a little folder in the middle (no picture) would you like my log in details to have a look?

No, thanks. I only offer onsite support to my paying clients. ??

Have you checked – using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides – that the image is being uploaded to the relevant folder inside wp-content/uploads? And that the smaller versions are also being generated?

Also like to add – if it helps – In Media,if I click on edit, then edit image, the image displays but will nor display in Media

I have gone into my hosting c-panel, file manager and under cheapremovalsbury.co.uk, clicked wp-contents then uploads then 2013 then 07, selected 07 and then this displayed the names of 2 images I uploaded yesterday (although I did upload 4)
I clicked on view and this did show the pictures for both of these.

What happens if you insert one of these “missing images” into a Post or Page?

It shows as the blank square with the tiny folder in the centre

I have just done that with an image at bottom of this post:

I have now resolved the problem – I changed site address in General settings from https://www.cheapremovalsbury.co.uk
    to https://cheapremovalsbury.co.uk
    Then
in Settings/Media I changed the web address to
    /home/remoncou/public_html/https://www.cheapremovalsbury.co.uk/wp-content/uploads
Thanks Esmi for all your efforts!
