• I’m trying to find out where to amend a certain page on this new blog of mine, and it is driving me crazy.

I have my footer set just the way I want it on most pages. It simply shows the search box and a menu of category links, cleanly and neatly listed horizontally. You can see it at the bottom of all of my pages.

If I go to my blog page (on the page entitled “Our Stories,”) and then click “Leave a Comment” on one of the posts, it opens a page that suddenly has added meta information (login, categories, etc) just above the footer that I had already set up. I don’t want that there and (for the life of me) I don’t know where to go to get rid of it. I looked inside the comments.php file and cannot get rid of it from there.

Any thoughts or suggestions? My new site is at https://www.WritingVets.org.

    Thanks!

  • Did you edit the theme file putting in that footer thing yourself ? If so, take it out, revert everything to original.

Head over to Appearance > Widgets and make use of Text Widget or Custom Menu widget, then style it however you like.

    Paul,

What you say makes no sense to me. My footer works fine on all pages except for that one page. If I revert back to the original footer, the problem is still there.

Also, I’ve already used my Custom Menu (in fact, the menu you see in my custom footer is actually my custom menu that I placed there.) I’m using a truly custom menu along the top (non-WordPress generated.)

    Thanks for trying!

Ok, so I solved my problem but it kind of looks like a bug to me. I’m not sure it’s related to the theme now, or if it’s an issue with WP overall.

I found and removed <?php get_sidebar(); ?> from my single.php page and now those annoying bits of metadata are gone (thankfully.) Specifically, it’s been showing Archive links along with Admin and Login/Logout links. So I did “fix” my problem, but it begs the following follow up question from me:

I had already gone into the Appearance/Widgets section and removed everything from the Sidebar, depositing them into the “Inactive Widgets” section. I really don’t need or want to use the Sidebar for anything. Isn’t stripping these items out of the Sidebar supposed to remove them from the sidebar(s) entirely? It was still putting them on my comments posting page (via the single.php page.)

I’m fairly new to WordPress so I never would have thought to look on the single.php page, and it would seem to me that removing these items from the Sidebar widget would have really removed them.

    Thoughts anyone?

I have the following problems with my Mog theme:

    my site: https://www.audiodhammatalks.org

    1) Some of the text is appearing in different colors. Since it is typed in the title box, there is no way to change it as far as I know. See under the menu : Forest masters.

    2) Also, some of of the newer text is appearing much smaller. No way to correct this either. You can see this under Ajaan Maha Boowa: see the last two audio talks at the bottom of the page.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
