WordPress is working, except when I want to deal with appearances. If I go to appearances and choose a theme, it’s a blank page. I try a different theme – blank page. No live preview; even after choosing a theme, no visual preview. Simply a sidebar telling me I’m previewing X theme (including a pre-loaded one), with dropdowns for site title and such, and a white screen for the rest of the page. I’ve tried using IE, Firefox, and Safari; I’ve used a Mac and Windows. I tried on a different site I also own – same thing, blank whiteness where there should be a visual preview. All software is up to date, no widgets or whatnots have been added.

Thoughts on how to allow me to actually see the website?

  • can only think that you themes directory has an issue.

FTP across to it, and see if there is anything funny there. If nothing obvious, then I’d take a copy of this directory, and then delete all the themes except say twentytwelve. Then see if the site comes back. If so then add back other themes until you find culprit, or have the theme you want back.
