• I am seeing some wordpress blogs are using tags. I installed wordpress, walked around but couldn’t see any tag option or something similar. How can I show a tag thing near my article or in my sidebar? Do I have to enter my tags or is there a plugin that is made for doing things for me? I mean is there a tag plugin which grabs the most used words from my article?

A lot of people use Ultimate Tag Warrior for making tags on their posts.

However, it doesn’t magically figure out tags for you. You add your tags when you make the post. It’s easy, just a matter of typing a bunch of keywords into the tags field that UTW adds. It does support the tagyu service for suggesting tags, but frankly, I find that tagyu is fairly poor at suggesting tags.

Ok, I looked and tried the program. But there should be a tag plugin which grabs the most used keywords from the post. Somebody out there should have thought that before me… Are there any suggestions?

no? then I should write one and share with the wp communiy…

Well, I wouldn’t trust the “smartest” plugin to make decisions for me about the tags I want for my posts. And I assume many bloggers feel the same ??

Yes, you are right but it is going to be easy. I mean sometimes we(bloggers) miss some tags to enter…

Well, ideal would be an extra string field in the database for each blog entry, into which you dump a few tagswords when you write your post. WP should then format them on the fly as per a predefined template when displaying the post (reading) or generating RSS.

@achitnis – I’m probably missing something here, but what you described is essentially what UTW already does.
