Launch NextGen Gallery with Single Thumbnail

I know this topic has been discussed before and closed, but I did not find the solutions suggested to work well with current versions of NextGen Gallery and WordPress.
For those of you looking for an easy way to launch a multiple image slideshow (gallery) from a single thumbnail, here is a link to a video tutorial and the code to make this work.
It took me 5 minutes and I got all my galleries to now launch from single thumbnail images:

Please note, when the developer talks about the gallery.php file, it is now located in /wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/view

Other than that, follow the instructions and you are good to go.
