    Hello,

Tablepress works great for me, honestly it looks good and the search capabilities are really helpful. Overall awesome!

I was wondering if it is possible to link a dropbox file with the auto update extension? I am also using the simple-dropbox-upload plugin. I am really new to wordpress and programming in general. As an alternative could you help or refer me to a link that could show me how to setup a cron job for dropbox?

    Thank you for your time.
    It is greatly appreciated ??
    Keep up the great work!

    Hi,

    thanks for your question.

Unfortunately, there’s no direct possibility to connect the auto update to Dropbox, but from what I know, you can make files directly accessible via a URL in your Dropbox (it might be necessary to save it in “Public Files” or something like that). Once you know the URL of the file, you can just use that in the TablePress Auto Update Extension.

wow thanks for the fast response.

yeah…when using a shared link with dropbox it gives me some errors, probably since there is no connection between the other plugin and this one (which has the dropbox password setup) I will try the public folder as suggested to see if that works.

    thank you very much
    best regards

unfortunately i get a failed attempt using the public folder ??
any other suggestions? off the top of your head do you know if i can have a direct link from dropbox to my server, because the server auto upload works perfect?

    thanks again

    Hi,

what happens if you open the link to the file in the public folder directly in the browser? Do you directly see the CSV or HTML file, or is it embedded into a Dropbox page? If so, that’s the reason for the error. If not, there’s indeed something not working with the connection of the server to Dropbox, but that’s nothing that I can fix.

About directly linking Dropbox to the server: No, I’m not aware of a solution for that, sorry. That would probably require that Dropbox is installed on the server.

    hey tobias

when i link (update extender) the table to the dropbox public url file, the webpage containing the table gives me a table that includes basically the entire dropbox page scripts running– it does although have the correct download link. when i put the link directly in the browser it prompts excel to open or save

is there anyway you could explain or if you know of a site that explains how to install dropbox on the server or have a connection that allows dropbox uploading to the server. i just want a really simple way to have auto updates to the dropbox folder for some admin users rather than have them go through the FTP manager and upload files there

thank you again for your time.
    best regards

    Hi,

no, sorry, I have no idea how to use Dropbox on the server. Most likely you would need the Linux version and have your admin install that. I don’t know if that is possible on servers though, sorry.

And just so that I know, can you please post the public Dropbox URL that you tried (or send it to me via email), so that I know how this looks?

    Tobias

as well here is the same shared link in a newer dropbox account i have

    Hi,

    thanks for the links.

Yeah, the problem is that Dropbox does not offer the files for download immediately, but shows that page with the buttons. Therefore, this idea will not work with these files ??
Unfortunately, that means that I’m out of ideas here. I have no clue how directly using Dropbox here could like like. I’m really sorry!

    Regards,
    Tobias
