i’d like to remove the login bar at the top of the page and just login from a link. how do i do this?

there is a bar–colored graphic– running across the top of all my posts. in the top right corner is a link labeled “login” and a little person icon to it’s left. i want to get rid of this login bar and only login from a link. i’m using latest version of semiologic 3.x w/ wp 2.x.

It sound slike you have the Admin Bar plugin enabled. Go to plugins and deactivate. You will only be able to login then from a Login link under Meta in your sidebar.

Look in your header.php file, it should be the first few lines of code after the <body> tag.

It will look something like <li class="login"><?php wp_loginout(); ?></li>

Try removing that.

thanks miklb but that line is not in my header.php file. i checked all the other semiologic 2column files too.

OK. I looked closer at the source, and indeed the sem admin plugin is active. I’ve not looked at the theme before, so perhaps there is an options page under presentation tab that allows for some tweaking of the theme.

Joe, if you have deactivated Admin Menu in your plugins and it is still there, the other option is to go to the wp-content/plugins directory and delete the sem-admin-menu directory. This will get rid of the files and should solve your problem. Not the greatest way to handle this but not sure why the Admin bar is still showing if it is inactive.

ok, it’s fixed now. i wish the plugins where in alpha order. i didn’t see the other “admin” plugin near the bottom of the list. thanks to all that offered solutions. much appreciated. ??

There’s a plugin for that as well- Alphabetical Plugins
