Really Simple Twitter Feed Widget-Fatal error: Syntax error on line 232

    I noticed our Twitter widget wasn’t working so went to download the latest version (2.3.1.2) of this plugin. I had to install it manually by unzipping the contents directly to the plugins directory, but the code is directly under that folder. There are no nested folders from when the zip got extracted.

    When I go to activate the plugin on the plugin page it comes back with the following:

    Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wp-content\plugins\really-simple-twitter-widget\really_simple_twitter_widget.php on line 232

  • We just tried a new install of the latest version and received the same error on line 232

    I cant even get back into wordpress! I just get this error message when I put in my web address – help!

    For the time being, you can use FTP to delete or deactivate that plugin – see:

    Hi all, the new 2.3.99 plugin release fixes the issue, reverting the Codebird library to its 2.2.3 (PHP<5.3 compatible) version. Sorry for the update mess, I truly apologize.

    I too can’t get back into wordpress and how can I deactivated this plugin through ftp? I’ve done my website through cpanel’s wordpress install. I can’t really access to any ftp. Can anyone please help me?!

    Hi c0olzer0, you can deactivate it temporarily by accessing the cpanel File Manager, going to the wp-content/plugins directory and renaming the “really_simple_twitter_widget” so something else, then go back to wordpress and install it from scratch.
