• Hi,

For a client’s site When I do a live preview of any theme I get “session expired, login in again”

Could it be that I have different urls for wordpress address and site address?

    site: Actual domain
    wordpress: https://ipaddress/~account/wordpress

(Not sure if it’s secure to post actual values up? Also as you can see the site was built on an ipaddress as domain wasn’t available when being built, and also installed wordpress in a separate directory)

First question is – is just a problem with ‘live preview’? I mean if I go ahead and activate would it be OK? I need to be sure as I don’t want to get locked out.

Secondly, what to do if it isn’t just a ‘live preview’ problem?

    Thanks

    Masten

Have you tried deactivating all of your plugins and switching to the Twenty Twelve theme to rule out plugins and your theme? A base WordPress installation shouldn’t have the cookies expire that quickly so something you’ve installed may be interfering.

    Hi Jan,

    Yes, all plugins are deactivated.

If I switch to the ‘twetnty twelve’ theme wont it just lock me out with the ‘session expired’ login screen? like it shows on the live preview. Or is it just the live preview that’s wrong and activation will actually be OK.

This is a live clients site so I can’t be in a situation where the site goes down or I’m locked out.

I have the ‘mysitemyway’ framework installed, but they say it’s a wordpress issue as they’ve never seen this problem before.

    Thanks

    Masten
